Variation of parameters in N₀ (a) that increase N₀ by the same factor from the base case, but do not change the saturation integral, result in an identical new case corresponding to a compression of the base case profile. Changing viscosity (ratio) or flow fraction (b) affect the saturation integral and can change the saturation range and profile shape in general. Compressing these profiles would not cause them to overlap.
