C27 to C29 βαα sterane distribution indicating an open marine environment as source for the OM. Eocene samples (Bartonian to Priabonian and Ypresian to Lutetian) show a slightly higher concentration of C29 βαα sterane concentrations. Paleoenvironmental and source interpretation after Hatem et al. (2016) (modified after Huang and Meinschein, 1979).
