Different facies of the Northeast German Basin, where the domain is scaled by a factor of five in z-direction and the different layers are shifted horizontally for better visibility of the features. The domain lengths in coordinate directions are approximately 169 km (in the x-direction), 165 km (in the y-direction), and 10.87 km (in the z-direction). The domain has been reflected at the z-plane such that −z corresponds to the depth axis. At the top and bottom boundaries, Dirichlet conditions are set to 281.15 K and 423.15 K, respectively, whereas Neumann no-flow conditions are set elsewhere (modified after [21]).
